This set of poems by the mystic Lancashire poet, Francis Thompson, was first performed on 22 January, 2010 by countertenor Magid El-Bushra and pianist Christopher Gould at the Benslow Music Trust.  Corp has also written a setting of Thompson’s The Hound of Heaven for choir and orchestra.   ‘Love is a many-splendored thing’ from the poem The Kingdom of God is just one of the famous lines of Thompson that have come down to us.
